Extremely cheap and still configurable
Fixed SFP+ 10 gigabit chopper direct links allow you to build highly affordable (~100€ per link!) and robust connections between two 8G or 10G ports. Especially for datacenters with many short (<10m) 10G links the costs are reduced to a fraction of optical transceivers. The high savings are due to the lack of optical transmitters/receivers which normally translate the electrical signals into optical. Simplified you can think of it like connecting two SFP+ ports directly using Twinax cables without transforming it into an optical signal.
In addition flexOptix SFP+ cable assemblies allow you to configure the transceivers at both ends for different systems, which allows you to connect components from different brands. Besides the classic SFP+ formfactor we also offer cable assemblies for 40G applications using the QSFP formfactor.
