flexBox - Help
When I insert a transceiver the message 'Analysis of transceiver failed - Please unplug and plug it again.' shows up. How can I fix this?

There may be various reasons why the upload fails. Please consider each of the following hints and try again:

  • Ensure that the transceiver is plugged in properly.
Details: If the transceiver isn't plugged in properly, some of the pins may not be connected.
  • Ensure that you use the USB cable which was shipped with the flexBox. Connect both ends of the y-cable to your computer or USB hub.
Details: Low quality cables are prone to errors. Some transceivers might need much power to function properly.
  • Ensure that only a single transceiver (either a SFP, a XFP or a GBIC) is inserted.
  • Connect the flexBox to a different USB port at your computer or hub.
Details: Even if some transceivers work with you setup, there might be other transceiver which don't.
  • Close all your internet explorer windows and restart the application.

If none of the hints above helps send us an e-mail.

What are the new features in version 1.2.2?
  • Added batch-configuration feature, which allows for configuring multiple transceivers of the same type to the initially selected compatiblity. Works just by plugging in transceivers, without any extra clicks.
  • Added feedback form with which you can directly send us a message concerning the current transceiver.
  • Professional Bundle only: Added support for 3rd party transceivers.
  • Now, the flexBox has support for more SFP and XFP types.
  • Due to the fact of improved configuration mechanism it can happen that e.g. CWDM SFPs need a little bit longer to configure. This behaviour only occurs when such a SFP is plugged in the first time. The following configurations will be performed much faster then.
Note: This point only applies to SFPs which were shipped before May 2010.
How to use the batch-configuration feature (Professional Bundle only)

If you have several transceiver of the same type and you want to reconfigure them to the same compatibilty you can use the new batch-configuration feature.
Just insert the first transceiver and select the desired compatibility in the table. Then click the big play-button below the table. The application starts to configure this transceiver. After having finished this successful, you will see a popup window which tells you that the transceiver has been reconfigured successful. At the bottom left of this window there's a checkbox labelled "Automatically reconfigure the next transceiver to compatibility ...". Just check the box and insert the next transceiver. If you're finished with all transceivers just uncheck the box.
If an error occurs the batch-configuration shuts down.
